Entrepreneurial Journal week 12 B-183

B 183 S Entrepreneurial Journal Week 12 entry 13
This week the theme was: A Journey of Gratitude. We turned in a book report “So You Think You Want to be an Entrepreneur?”  We started reading: “A Field Guide for the Hero’s Journey.” We studied Thomas S. Monson’s April 1992 “An attitude of Gratitude.”  We watched E corner videos “Avoid the Wrong Job” by Stan Christensen and “Paths to an Entrepreneur Career” by Ted Zoller of the Kauffman Foundation.

A few things I really liked about President Monson’s talk was the poem:
Accentuate the positive;
Eliminate the negative,
Latch onto the affirmative,
Don’t mess with Mr. In- between.

He helps remind us about those individuals in our lives to whom we have and should have much gratitude for: Our Mothers, Fathers, Teachers, Friends, Spouse, Country and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Stan Christensen teaches us that “bad decisions come from making unnecessary assumptions.” He teaches us to “Not try to outguess what someone wants to hear on a resume, tell YOUR story.”  “To avoid the wrong job, we should “pick something that is fun and that we enjoy.”
 He also teaches us to “Position ourselves to take advantage of opportunities when they come up.”
Ted Zoller showed us that there are many paths to success.  They look differently for each individual and industry.  There are some similarities, but it seems that if at some point, you “start a company, then go fuel a company for a big corporation and then back into a small company, you will find the sweet spot for entrepreneurs.”
It has been a wonderful week filled with appreciation and wonderful blessings from recognizing those blessings.
